University Security Team Promotes Cyber Security Awareness Month in October

The IT Services Security Team will be on campus for National Cyber Security Awareness Month throughout October to show you how easy it is to stay safe online.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to stop by the area in front of the Student Technology Center near the Arkansas Union Food Court between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Each week in October has a cyber security theme, determined by the Department of Homeland Security, that reflects actions we can take to protect our resources:

  • Oct. 2-6: Simple Steps to Online Safety
  • Oct. 9-13: Cyber Security in the Workplace is Everyone's Business
  • Oct. 16-20: Today's Predictions for Tomorrow's Internet
  • Oct. 23-27: The Internet Wants You: Consider a Career in Cybersecurity
  • Oct. 30-31: Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Cyber Threats

Watch for more information and events throughout the month.

STOP. THINK. CONNECT.

Take security precautions, understand the consequences of your actions and behaviors, and enjoy the benefits of the internet.

  • STOP: Take time to understand the risks and learn how to spot potential problems.
  • THINK: Watch for warning signs and consider how your actions online could impact your safety or your family's.
  • CONNECT: Enjoy the internet with greater confidence, knowing you've taken the right steps to safeguard yourself and your devices.
