Introducing New Cloud-Based Collaboration Tools From Office 365
Projects just got easier with a suite of cloud-based collaboration tools from Office 365 that make it faster and easier to share, track and deliver projects, services or daily tasks.
SharePoint Online is used to manage complex projects, build collaboration portals, post and manage files and documents, share calendars and more. SharePoint sites can provide departmental intranets for seamless communication, content management and file sharing.
Office 365 Groups is another tool used to share documents and spreadsheets, schedule meetings and send group-wide communication. In Groups, sets of people can easily access shared resources without having to use distribution lists or shared mailboxes.
Microsoft Teams is a chat-based workspace that includes tools for project management, scheduling and emailing. These workspaces are customizable, with options to include tabs for other applications like Asana, SharePoint, OneNote and more.
If you aren't sure which service will work best for your next project, see the comparison chart. You can also watch the video of Preston Peine's presentation on Office 365 collaboration tools.
With the introduction of these new services, the outdated SharePoint 2010 server will eventually be retired. The SharePoint team will be working closely with site owners to migrate content to SharePoint Online. For questions about your SharePoint 2010 site, contact spoint@uark.edu.
Office 365 is provided free of charge to all students, faculty and staff at the University of Arkansas. Explore the growing suite of Office 365 collaboration tools by logging into portal.office.com with your UARK email address and password.
