U of A Parking and Transit Has Installed New Parking Meters on Campus
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Transit and Parking has installed new multiple space parking meters on campus. These new meters replaced the multiple space meters in the Garland Avenue, Meadow Street and Stadium Drive Garages, the single space meters on Arkansas Avenue and Duncan Avenue, and in lots at Bud Walton Arena, Testing Services, the Administrative Services Building, and lot 71, near the Nanoscience Building.
The new meters will accept coins, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express credit cards, as well as cellphone payment using the Whoosh! smartphone app. The gates and pay on foot stations in the Harmon Avenue Garage will not change at this time.
The main change customers will notice is they no longer need to enter their parking space number when they use a meter. Instead, they will enter their vehicle license number.
Customers also have the option to print a receipt that lists the time of the transaction, amount paid and the time their parking expires. Customers may also add time to their existing parking session using their vehicle license number at the meter or using the Whoosh! app.
The mobile smartphone app, called Whoosh!, is free to download for Android, Apple, and Windows smartphones.
Once the app is loaded on the phone, the customer can follow the prompts on the app to pay for their parking in a metered space on campus.
There is a 35-cent charge per transaction. Whoosh! will replace the Parkmobile app Transit and Parking has been using on campus and will allow payment for the remaining single space meters on campus, except for the gold short-term meters.
Please contact Transit and Parking at parking@uark.edu or 575-PARK if you have questions about the new meters or Whoosh!.
