Research Accounting Workshops

Research Accounting will be administering five fall workshops in September, with up to six hours CPE available. The workshops are free and on campus, in ARKU 504. If you have any questions, please contact Nick Freyaldenhoven at npfreyal@uark.edu or 575-4167.

Research Accounting Workshops

Fall 2017

  • Dollars and Sense of Sponsored Programs (1 Hr.) Sept. 25, 1:30-2:30 p.m. For faculty and staff that have responsibilities with cost centers in companies 0402, 0403, 0412 and corresponding cost shares.

    • Join Research Accounting staff to learn about departmental staff's requirements and BASIS tools available for financial administration of sponsored programs.

  • Responsibilities of Financial Admin. of Sponsored Programs (1 Hr.)  Sept. 25, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

    • Join Research Accounting staff to learn about the roles and responsibilities of departments and individuals involved in financial management of sponsored programs.

    • After completing the course, individuals will know about the roles of the Principle Investigator, Department Financial Administrative Officer, Department Chair, Research Support and Sponsored Programs (RSSP), and Research Accounting.

  • Uniform Guidance-Framework for Grants Management (1.5 Hrs.) September 25, 3:30-5 p.m.

    • Join Research Accounting staff to learn about the federal government's government-wide framework for grants management.

    • After completing the course, individuals will know about the federal regulations that pertain to financial administration of sponsored programs.

  • Sponsored Program Reporting Using Data Warehouse (1.5 Hrs.) September 27, 9-10 a.m.

    • Join Research Accounting staff to learn about the university's data warehouse, SAS.

    • After completing the course, individuals will learn how to gain access to SAS as well as be able to run basic queries pertaining to sponsored programs.

  • Service Centers for Sponsored Programs (1 Hr.) September 27, 10-11 a.m.

    • Join Research Accounting staff to learn about service centers pertaining to work performed on sponsored programs.

    • After completing the course, individuals will learn the purpose of a service center, regulations concerning service centers and the process to obtain a service center rate.

Training held in ARKU 504 for all sessions.

These classes meet the guidelines for Continuing Professional Education as set forth in the rules and regulations of the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy.
