Roy Cordell, senior director of creative services at the University of Arkansas, has been appointed co-chair of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District III Conference Committee.

The announcement was made at the CASE III district conference held Feb. 5-8 in Nashville, Tennessee.

"Roy has long supported CASE as a volunteer and he will make an excellent co-chair for the district conference committee," said Mark Rushing, assistant vice chancellor for university relations. "He has more than two decades of experience at the University of Arkansas and will continue to be a great ambassador for us. It is a great honor for one of our staff to be able to give back to our profession in this manner."

"I'm looking forward to serving on the conference committee for our district," Cordell said. "CASE provides valuable career enrichment opportunities and is a great resource for people who work in the advancement field. My task, along with my co-chairs, is to plan and execute the 2018 District III annual conference for 1,000 advancement professionals in Atlanta, Georgia." The other co-chairs are Reshunda Mahone of Virginia State University, Valerie Gliem of Eckerd College, and Andy Wilson of the University of Tennessee at Martin.

CASE District III, part of CASE International, is a professional association that advances and supports educational and professional institutions in the southeastern United States by enhancing the effectiveness of the alumni relations, fund raising, communications, marketing and other advancement professionals who serve them. CASE is one of the world's largest nonprofit educational associations and includes more than 3,670 colleges and universities, primary and secondary independent and international schools, and nonprofit organizations in more than 82 countries around the globe.

Cordell, who has been with the University of Arkansas since 1993, will also serve on the CASE III board of directors for two years as part of his duties. In his role on campus, Cordell oversees the visual and creative services department in the office of university relations and was responsible for the creation of the University of Arkansas tower and shield logo. The department is responsible for all visual representations and images produced in the university's name for broad audiences, to include print publications, graphic design, photography and videography. The unit is also responsible for oversight of university-wide graphic standards and is charged with developing visual presentations for the division of advancement and other administrative offices.
