Razorback Transit Unveils New Buses with a New Look
Razorback Transit bus operators stand by their "new look" buses
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three new University of Arkansas Razorback Transit buses are now running fixed routes around campus and the Fayetteville community while sporting a dramatic new look.
“We knew it was time to replace three or our oldest buses, and felt it was time to update our look,” said Adam Waddell, associate director of Transit and Parking. “It took a while to develop what we wanted, but we are very happy with the result.”
The three new buses are 40 foot-long, low floor, heavy duty buses, with clean diesel engines that can carry 70 passengers — similar to the buses that have been purchased in recent years.
The difference is the primary color.
The older buses are primarily white.
The new ones are boldly red, inside and out. Razorback red.
And, no surprise, the Arkansas Razorback is prominently featured on the front and sides.
“We worked with athletics to make sure we were supporting their brand, worked up the design we wanted, then got a few tweaks from the folks at University Relations to get just the look we wanted,” said Waddell.
It will take a while for all the Razorback Transit buses to go whole hog – three more are due to be retired next year and the replacements will feature the new design. Meanwhile, transit will gradually make the change from white to red as funding becomes available.
