Greenlee Receives 3M Non-Tenured Faculty Award
Lauren Greenlee, assistant professor of chemical engineering, has received a 3M Non-Tenured Faculty Award totaling $45,000.
The award recognizes outstanding new faculty who were nominated by 3M researchers and selected based on their research, experience and academic leadership. The award helps researchers achieve tenure, remain in their teaching positions and conduct research.
The initial award is for $15,000 and can be renewed for two additional years at the same amount each year. The unrestricted funds may be used for any purpose, as long as it is related to the performance of basic research.
Greenlee will use the funds to help support student research, focusing on summer internships for undergraduate researchers in her research group. Additional funds will help support a graduate student or supplement future equipment purchases. Greenlee's research focuses on the development of nanocatalysts for applications in water treatment, electrochemical energy conversion and agriculture.
The award is administered by 3M's Research and Development Community and 3Mgives. Awardees will showcase their scientific efforts to peers and technical employees at the 3M Science and Engineering Faculty Day. The company named a total of 52 recipients this year.
Greenlee holds the Louis Owen Professorship in Chemical Engineering.
