Skype/Lync Moving to the Cloud on Nov. 29

Skype/Lync messaging for faculty and staff will be migrated to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2. As each faculty and staff member is migrated, they could experience a brief interruption in service and will be required to log into Skype or Lync again.

Faculty and staff Exchange email and calendaring services will be migrated from Jan. 3 to 10. The Exchange migration is the next step to move faculty and staff services to the cloud. After the migration, web-based Mail and Calendar will be accessed at outlook.office.com (currently exchange.uark.edu). Detailed information will be provided to each faculty and staff member prior to the migration.

The faculty and staff Office 365 cloud migration is part of the Achieve IT: Collaborate Everywhere project, which brought free Microsoft Office services to students earlier this year. The goal of Collaborate Everywhere is to provide easy-to-use, modern services across campus to support academic success and effective business processes.

Campus technology experts are currently working toward a solution to provide free Microsoft Office services to all faculty and staff after the end of the year.
