FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Debbie McLoud, who has served since July as interim associate vice chancellor for Human Resources at the University of Arkansas, has been chosen to fill the position on a permanent basis, effective Dec. 1.

“Sometimes you need to have a national search to determine that the best person for the job is already here,” said Tim O’Donnell, vice chancellor for finance and administration. “Debbie has been an outstanding member of the Human Resources staff for 25 years, she knows every facet of the office and has served as interim associate vice chancellor twice in the past six years. The search committee had no problem deciding that she was the best possible candidate for the job.

“I’d like to thank Mike Johnson and all the members of the search committee for their excellent work.”

McLoud joined the human resources office in 1991 and became director of employee development and special programs in 2004. She served as interim associate vice chancellor for Human Resources from January 2010 until October 2012, and then was named director of employee services.

“I am very honored to be given this opportunity,” said McLoud. “Chancellor Steinmetz has often said that a university’s people are what make it great, and in Human Resources we are committed to recruiting, developing and retaining the best and most diverse possible workforce, then providing our campus community with innovative solutions and excellent service to help them thrive.”

McLoud received her B.S. in education and human resource development from the University of Arkansas in 1998 and her M.Ed. in human resource development from the university in 2008. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
