Humans of Kimpel Hall: Kynzee Smith

Each month the Department of Communication will showcase someone in Kimpel Hall and have them discuss a topic of choice. The department wants to bring recognition to these individuals and allow their stories to be heard. This article will be called Humans of Kimpel Hall.

Name: Kynzee Smith

Classification: senior communication major

Hometown: Amarillo, Texas

Organizations and Clubs: Lambda Pi Eta, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Order of the Omega

Interesting Fact: She is missing a rib due to a back surgery she had seven years ago.

Why did you decide to attend the University of Arkansas? I loved the environment and I loved the people, quickly realizing it was the place for me.

Kynzee wants every incoming freshman to take risks. One of the first stories she shared was that she had never stepped foot in the state of Arkansas until a few months before she enrolled. This was a risk for her because she willingly immersed herself in a new environment and state.  Many can attest the college experience can be scary, but Kynzee believes it will shape her future and make her the best she can be.  She also shared that her journey included four different degree plans before settling into the COMM Department. For Kynzee, stepping out of her comfort zone helped her grow as a person.  

One faculty member that has held a lasting impression on Kynzee is assistant professor Lindsey Aloia. A few things she notes about Aloia is that she is personable, knowledgeable, funny and a great lecturer. She also values how much she cares for students.  

You can catch Kynzee on the second floor of Kimpel Hall studying in the reception area, shopping at the Northwest Arkansas Mall, cheering the Razorbacks, and chilling with her friends on campus.
