Thousands of donations were collected during the 2015 Homecoming Food Drive.

The Arkansas Alumni Association and the University of Arkansas community has a tradition of giving back during the annual Homecoming Celebration.

For this year's Philanthropy Day, the Alumni Association is partnering with the Center for Community Engagement's Volunteer Action Center to give back during the "Fill the Truck" Homecoming Food Drive. Students, staff, faculty and community members are encouraged to bring donations to the campuswide drop off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Oct. 11, in the Union Mall. Donations will go to the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry.

The 2015 Homecoming Food Drive was the largest in university history, raising a total of 48,000 pounds of canned food and supplying 70 percent of the annual campus need. The Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry was able to stock its shelves and serve students and faculty across campus. Because of the substantial amount of food donated, the pantry was also able to donate food to other Northwest Arkansas food pantries.

About 40 donation boxes are also located throughout campus, and donors are encouraged to give items at these drop-off boxes throughout Homecoming week.

For more information about the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry, call 479-575-7793 or email pantry@uark.edu.
