Sunday marked the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. A day that we will never forget.

On the morning of Friday Sept. 9, in honor of those 2,977 people killed during the attacks, University of Arkansas Army ROTC cadets along with the UA Police Department, the National Guard, Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, and members of the community participated in a stair climb at the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in remembrance of the attacks that occurred that day.

Participants started this event at 5:15 a.m running up and down the aisles five times totaling to 2,310 steps, the same number of steps that first responders climbed in the World Trade Center. Members of the Ranger Challenge team carried packs weighing from a range of 40 to 60 pounds to represent the equipment that firefighters wore during the attack.

Although many cadets were too young to remember the attacks, they understood the significance of the tragedy and were happy to pay their respects to those lives that were taken away that day.
