Merry Moiseichik

Merry Moiseichik, University of Arkansas professor of recreation and sport management, has been selected to receive the 2016 Garrett G. Eppley Alumni Recognition Award from Indiana University.

Moiseichik will receive the award at a meeting of the National Recreation and Park Association in October. The interim chair of the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies at Indiana University School of Public Health will present the award. Moiseichik earned her Doctorate of Recreation degree and a Certificate of Public Management from Indiana.

Moiseichik joined the faculty of the College of Education and Health Professions at the U of A in 1989. She was elected a Fellow of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration three years ago and is the author of Management for Park and Recreation Agencies, the best-selling book in the history of the National Recreation and Park Association.

She has worked with more than 20 cities in Arkansas and Oklahoma to develop or improve their park and recreation departments through the capstone graduate class in recreation and sport management. She also helped to organize a Women's Leadership Summit co-sponsored by the college and the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau.

Moiseichik also has a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas. Her bachelor's and master's degrees in recreation education are from SUNY Cortland.

She has won numerous college, university and professional association awards for service and research.
