FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Caroline Osborn, a senior honors student at the University of Arkansas, earned a highly competitive William Jefferson Clinton Scholarship to study at the American University in Dubai this fall.

Osborn, from Conway, is a French and Middle East Studies double major, with a minor in Arabic in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. Osborn will complete a Certificate in Middle East Studies at ADU, while also continuing to study Arabic.

She is the first U of A student to earn a Clinton scholarship.

"I cannot think of a better ambassador to represent the University of Arkansas' Arabic program abroad," said professor Adnan Haydar in the World Languages, Literature and Cultures department.  "Her experience there will not only enhance her understanding of Arabic language and culture, but will also open up new career opportunities and pave the way for future U of A students to study at AUD."

The William Jefferson Clinton Scholarship at the American University in Dubai seeks to provide American students based in the U.S. the opportunity to expand their educational and cultural horizons by studying in the Arab world. -
