Wi-Fi Expansion for Academic Buildings to be Completed Sunday

Improved Wi-Fi will be available in Discovery Hall, Memorial Hall, and the Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences Building starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, following a brief outage in those buildings.

These are the final three buildings to get improved Wi-Fi as part of the Achieve IT: Network Everywhere project to add 996 new wireless access points in 30 academic buildings on campus. The project also included the new UARK Wi-Fi network, which replaced UARK 2G and 5G, making it easier to get online from any device, anywhere on campus.

"With seamless Wi-Fi access across campus, students can focus more on their studies," Ryan Moore, network service team lead, said. "This project brings a major expansion of wireless coverage, offering faster gigabit network service and increased reliability."

A list of buildings included in the project, as well as a feedback form to contact university network engineers, is available on the Network Everywhere page of the Campus IT website.

As campus IT staff continue to support the Achieve IT: Excellence in Technology initiative, several improvements and new services are being developed that enhance creativity, spark innovation, enable exploration, advance discovery and differentiate the University of Arkansas.
