Childhood Education Students Represent State at NASA Institute

University of Arkansas students attended training at the Marshall Flight Space Center.

University of Arkansas students studying childhood education represented Arkansas at the NASA Pre-service STEM Teacher Institute at the Marshall Flight Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama, last month.

The students participated in 40 hours of training with NASA scientists, engineers and educators as well as another 40 hours of pre- and post-institute NASA online training. The event included pre-service teacher-education students from other universities in Missouri, Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana. U of A faculty members Vinson Carter and Mike Daugherty attended with the students.

Daugherty said the students represented the U of A very well and came away with a host of new STEM ideas for the classroom.
