Miss Arkansas Valley Darynne Dahlem, a sophomore animal science major at the University of Arkansas, received the first ever STEM scholarship sponsored by the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation. The first annual STEM scholarship is valued at $1,000, and only contestants with a declared major in science, technology, engineering and mathematics are eligible for the award. Nearly $122,000 in scholarships were awarded throughout the week to various contestants.
