Columbia Professor to Speak about Technology Adoption in Education
Peter Bergman, assistant professor of economics and education at Teachers College, Columbia University, will speak at noon Friday, April 1, on the University of Arkansas campus. His lecture is titled "Technology Adoption in Education: Evidence from Field Experiments."
The lecture is part of the Department of Education Reform Lecture Series and will take place in Room 309, Graduate Education Building.
Those planning to attend any of the lectures in the series are asked to RSVP on the Department of Education Reform's website before 1 p.m. the Wednesday preceding the lecture.
Bergman's primary research uses randomized controlled trials to find low-cost, scalable interventions that improve education outcomes. He has published papers about school integration, educational attainment, performance ratings in school districts, and technology adoption in education.
A recent paper by Bergman about technology adoption uses data from a learning management system operating in several hundred schools and a two-stage experiment across 59 schools.
