Richard Cassady, professor of industrial engineering and director of the Freshman Engineering Program in the College of Engineering, received the Annual Alan O. Plait Tutorial Excellence Award at the Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium in January. Cassady was recognized for his tutorial; “An Introduction to Probability Models in Reliability and Maintainability.” Cassady co-authored this tutorial with recent doctoral graduate Kellie R. Schneider, who is now an assistant professor at the University of Dayton.

The symposium was held January 25-28, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona. It is a yearly gathering of the product assurance disciplines where training, tutorials, and the latest technical practices, procedures, and results are presented in easy-to-utilize forums and proceedings.

The symposium is considered the premier event for the reliability, availability, and maintainability engineering discipline, which brings tutorials, panels, technical presentations, exhibits, CEUs, certifications, and networking into a four-day program for reliability professionals.
