Voice Students Place in State Competition

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four music students at the University of Arkansas won their categories at the 2016 Arkansas Chapter NATS vocal competition at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.

The students are studying under Moon-Sook Park, assistant professor in the Department of Music in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. Nine students from Park's studio and four from instructor Chris MacRae's studio competed alongside 190 singers from schools across the state. 

First-place winners were Christopher Senty for Category VII A-Junior Men, Margaret Stall in Category XIII B-Older Advanced Women and Judd Burns in Category XIV-B Older Advanced Men.

Second Place winners were Hannah Rodriquez for Category VII A-Fresh Women and Cheri Headrick in Category XIII B-Older Advanced Women. Siyu Lou was awarded third place in Category XVI- Avocational Men and Women.

“I am very proud of my students,” Park said. “I’m happy that this competition continues to bring positive attention to our music study program. Winning at NATS is significant. All students performed tremendously in their respective categories.”
