University of California Professor to Discuss Improving Teacher-Student Relationships
Hunter Gehlbach, an associate professor of education at the University of California, will speak at noon Friday, Feb. 26, on the University of Arkansas campus. His lecture is titled "Creating Birds of Similar Feathers: Leveraging Similarity to Improve Teacher-Student Relationships and Academic Achievement."
The lecture is part of the Department of Education Reform Lecture Series and will take place in Room 343, Graduate Education Building.
Those planning to attend any of the lectures in the series are asked to RSVP on the Department of Education Reform's website before 1 p.m. the Wednesday preceding the lecture.
Gehlbach's research focuses on bolstering the ability of teachers and students to understand each other's thoughts and feelings in order to improve relationships. Gehlbach also helps scientists and practitioners create better questionnaires and explore how schools might use surveys to improve teacher and student outcomes.
Gehlbach has also written about his methodological interests in such publications as the Journal of Educational Psychology and Psychological Assessment, Huffington Post and Education Week. He serves on the editorial board of Educational Psychology Review and Educational Psychologist and is a member of the Questionnaire Standing Committee for the National Assessment of Educational Progress.
