Life Got You Out of Balance? Sign-up for Wellness Coaching

Feeling overwhelmed? Too much going on? Anxious? Out of balance or dissatisfied?

We get it! Life happens, which may interfere with your academic success and personal growth. Thanks to Pat Walker Health Center and the department of Wellness and Health Promotion, students have excellent resources in place to help achieve a sense of personal balance and overall satisfaction.

Wellness coaching is designed to help students improve their lifestyle behaviors so that they are living well in a very conscious way.

As professional certified health educators, wellness coaches help you identify your strengths, and plan specific changes you want to make to improve your academic performance and satisfaction with life.

"Wellness coaching is an alliance between a coach and a student who is seeking lasting lifestyle behavior changes that improve their overall wellness," says Dr. Ed Mink, director of Wellness and Health Promotion. "Wellness coaches advocate and inspire by exploring options, planning and establishing accountability with students. It is all about creating wellness for life."

During coaching sessions, you will:

  • establish an alliance of support and accountability with your coach
  • identify and prioritize areas you want to change
  • receive referral to other campus resources if appropriate (*Wellness coaching does NOT include psychological assessment, counseling, or therapy, fitness evaluation or personal training, nutrition counseling, or medical care)
  • practice basic anxiety reducing and centering techniques
  • engage in assertiveness and resilience skill training
  • create and successfully implement your personal behavior change plan
