Parents Invited to U of A Informational Meeting About Dyslexia

The University of Arkansas invites parents of children with dyslexia, a learning disability, to an informational meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at 410 Arkansas Ave. on the northeast edge of campus.

David Hanson, a clinical assistant professor of special education, will lead the session. He will describe warning signs and provide information about local resources, interventions parents can do at home, and laws concerning dyslexia in schools.

Hanson worked as a reading special education teacher in the Bentonville School District for 11 years before joining the faculty of the College of Education and Health Professions this fall. He is Certified Academic Language Therapist and dyslexia therapist.

The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Hanson at dhanson@uark.edu. Free day care is available for parents who RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 11.
