Scholar Association President to Discuss National Standards in K-12 Education

Peter Wood, president of the National Association of Scholars, will speak at noon Friday, Nov. 6, on the University of Arkansas campus. His lecture is titled "Advanced Placement, Accelerated Retreat: APUSH and the Evolving Debate over National Standards in K-12 Education."

The lecture is part of the Department of Education Reform Lecture Series and will take place in Room 309, Graduate Education Building.

Those planning to attend any of the lectures in the series are asked to RSVP on the Department of Education Reform's website before 1 p.m. the Wednesday preceding the lecture.

The National Association of Scholars is a network committed to academic freedom, disinterested scholarship and excellence in American higher education, according to the association's website. Wood is an anthropologist and former provost of The King's College in New York City. Links to suggested readings are available on the lecture registration page.
