VetSuccess on Campus Open House Introduces Veterans to VA Program at U of A

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — All local veterans interested in enrolling or already enrolled at the University of Arkansas or NorthWest Arkansas Community College are invited to an open house for the Veterans Administration’s VetSuccess On Campus program, from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Arkansas Union, Rooms 509-511.

VetSuccess on Campus is a collaboration with educational institutions around the country to provide VA counselors to advise veterans on campus. The University of Arkansas and NorthWest Arkansas Community College have a joint VetSuccess program to provide services such as filing and status check of disability claims, Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation enrollment and career counseling.

The open house will be a chance for veterans to meet with VetSuccess counselor Brian Burgess, who works with students at both the U of A and NWACC. Burgess works in cooperation with the U of A Veterans Resource and Information Center, and can meet with U of A student veterans Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. His office is located in the U of A Career Development Center.

Students with military-affiliation who need assistance with military educational benefits, academic counseling, and questions regarding U of A opportunities can find those services at the Veterans Resource and Information Center at 479-575-8742 or visit veteranscenter.uark.edu.
