FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  — Construction contractors working with University of Arkansas Facilities Management will vent natural gas into the air near the Central Heating Plant on Dickson Street between Harmon Avenue and Duncan Avenue at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.

There should be no danger from the procedure, but the Office of Environmental Health and Safety and everyone else involved are taking every safety precaution possible.

The smell of natural gas is expected to permeate the area around the Heating Plant for at least half an hour, and may travel further, depending on weather conditions.

There is no danger from the smell and no cause for alarm.

Steps are being taken to limit the amount of the gas smell that gets inside other buildings.
