First U of A Chancellor Candidate, April Mason, to Hold Public Forum

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — April Mason, the first of three candidates for the position of University of Arkansas chancellor, will hold an open public forum at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 in the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center.

Mason, the provost and senior vice president at Kansas State University, will make a presentation on the subject Moving the Needle: Thoughts on taking the University of Arkansas into the future. She will take questions from the audience following the presentation.

Mason’s forum will be videotaped and it will be available online shortly after the content is downloaded. Viewers will need to use their U of A email and password to access the video.

Before coming to Kansas State, Mason previously served as dean of the College of Applied Human Sciences at Colorado State University; associate dean for discovery and engagement in the College of Consumer and Family Sciences at Purdue University; she was a professor in the department of food science and human nutrition at Colorado State; and taught foods and nutrition at Purdue, while also conducting research.

She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Mount Union College, a master's degree in plant physiology and a doctorate in foods and nutrition from Purdue University.
