English-Language Learners Topic of Friday Lecture
Joseph Robinson-Cimpian
Joseph Robinson-Cimpian, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will speak at noon Friday, Oct. 2, on the University of Arkansas campus. His lecture is titled "Studying the effects of test-based policies for reclassifying English learners."
The lecture is part of the Department of Education Reform Lecture Series and will take place in the Graduate Education Building, Room 309.
Robinson-Cimpian has a master's degree in economics and a doctorate in economics of education from Stanford University. His research is focused on using and developing unique methods to study equity and policy, particularly dealing with sexual minorities, women and language minorities. The Spencer Foundation, AERA Grants Board and Institute of Education Sciences have funded his work. CNN, USA Today and NPR have featured his research.
Those planning to attend any of the lectures in the series are asked to RSVP on the Department of Education Reform's website before 1 p.m. the Wednesday preceding the lecture.
