Rita Boydstun Retirement

After 36 years of service to the university, Rita Boydstun of the University of Arkansas Bookstore will officially be retiring on Friday, Sept. 25.  Rita started at Mullins Library in 1967 and worked there for two years before moving to Conway with her husband, Guy. In 1970, she started working for Torreyson Library at the University of Central Arkansas while finishing an Associate of Arts degree in business from Central Baptist College, also in Conway. They moved back to Northwest Arkansas after graduation in December of 1975 and Rita came back to Mullins Library for another year before she became the secretary/bookkeeper at Greenland High School from 1977 until 1982. Rita joined the Bookstore staff as a part time cashier, and in June of 1983, she filled the open position of Textbook Coordinator and transitioned into the role of Textbook Manager in 2002.

"Rita's service, during her tenure, has been exemplary and very important to our students' success. Rita saw the textbook department through many changes, including the start of an eBook program and a textbook rental program, both of which have saved our students a lot of money over the last 10-15 years," said Ali Sadeghi, director of University Bookstore.

Colleagues and acquaintances are invited to drop by the Bookstore between 1-3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. The reception will be held on the second floor of the Garland Center Bookstore. There will be a presentation and refreshments, please come join the celebration.
