People, Places and Thinks on View in Mullins Library
Adam Grant Campbell's, People, Places, and Thinks is currently on view in the main lobby of Mullins Library. The exhibit highlights a selection of portraits and landscapes curated especially for the University Libraries.
Campbell grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and moved around the Midwest for several years before settling in Fayetteville. He received his B.A. in studio art from the U of A in 2013. His focus often shifts from people to landscapes to abstract imaginings, all of which can be seen in the current exhibit.
Campbell recently completed a large mural in Fayetteville, located at 1420 S. School Ave. The landscape faces the patio of Nomad's Music Lounge at the corner of 15th and S. School Avenue. One of the pieces in this exhibit, "Family Tree," helped inspire the mural.
"It seems that all great artists spend some time in their careers painting landscapes," Campbell said recently. "As a subject, it engulfs us….Every scene presents a different set of problems. Landscape painting holds the keys to understanding light, abstraction, and the necessity of immediate action."
The Libraries is in the process of updating its website, so the online gallery space (referred to as the Artchive), has also undergone a remodel - you can check out a teaser of the current exhibit online. The real show, though, is only available by taking a walk through the lobby, so visit the Libraries' website for a complete list of hours.
