The topic of Jacob Brown, a member of the department's Integrative Muscle Metabolism Laboratory, is "PGC-1a4 gene expression is suppressed by the IL-6-ERK1/2 MAPK signaling axis and altered by resistance exercise, obesity and muscle injury."
The topic of Richard Perry, a member of the department's Exercise Muscle Biology Laboratory, is "Obesity and Aging: The Heart of the Problem."
The students will make their presentations from 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 11, in Room 311 of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building. The purpose of the seminar is to expose students and faculty to research being conducted in the department. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
