CAPS Announces Events for National Suicide Prevention Month
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), along with other student groups, will be hosting various events throughout the month of September to raise awareness about suicide prevention.
Stop by the Union Mall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday or Wednesday, Sept. 8 and 9, to learn more about preventing suicide. While at the table, leave a message of hope for students who have been affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts. Help us build hope!
Then join CAPS between 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, in the lobby of Pat Walker Health Center for free hands-on training for helping friends in need. Enjoy a few refreshments, learn how to help a friend and be a part of the solution. Wear green for mental health awareness.
According to the World Health Organization, suicide was the second leading cause of death among 15-29 year olds globally in 2012. If you or someone you know may be struggling with thoughts of suicide, contact CAPS at 479-575-5276. These services are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
Always remember to take five minutes to focus on your mental health. #Take5UARK
The CAPS office is housed on the second floor of the Pat Walker Health Center, located at the corner of Maple and Garland, and is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
