  • US News logoU.S. News & World Report listed its top 10 schools for law students who want to keep their student debt low. The University of Arkansas School of Law is ranked No. 5. The National Jurist last year ranked the U of A School of Law as the best value in the country among law schools.
  • Bloomberg Business reported that the World Trade Center Arkansas, based at the University of Arkansas, was awarded a $207,000 grant to help small businesses compete in export and import around the globe.
  • Several media picked up an Associated Press story about the Porter Fund Literary Prize being awarded to Davis McCombs, director of the university's program in creative writing and translation.

State and Local

  • The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette included financial stories quoting Tim Yeager about the banking industry in Northwest Arkansas and Kathy Deck, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research, about the housing market in the region. The newspaper also reported on research by Gary Ritter, director of the Office for Education Policy, regarding Common Core standards and tests. Both the Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas editions carried stories about law professor Howard Brill being sworn in as chief justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court. The paper also interviewed law professor Mark Killenbeck about presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's about the constitutionality of a county clerk denying marriage applications.
  • KFSM TV reported on the new Guardian app that members of the university community can download to their smart phones to help keep themselves safe on campus. The app can be tied into the UA Police Department to identify location and can alert friends or family when someone is overdue. KFSM also interviewed Janine Parry, a professor of political science, about the early presidential primary and visits to the state by Republican candidates.
  • Arkansas Business reported on the Skyline Report, released by the university's Center for Business and Economic Research this week.
  • The City Wire wrote about the the international business and trade trip to Cuba being planned and led by the university's World Trade Center Arkansas later this month. Tyson Foods and Riceland Foods are among the companies that will participate, as will Gov. Asa Hutchinson.
  • Channel 40/29 interviewed professor Kevin Fitzpatrick about proposals to help people who are homeless in Northwest Arkansas, including one proposal to create a micro-shelter village.
