FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lindsey S. Aloia will join the Department of Communication in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences as an assistant professor this fall.

Her research focuses on illuminating the causes and consequences of verbal aggression in interpersonal associations. Specifically, Aloia seeks to understand how qualities of interpersonal interactions and the interactants influence the use of and reactions to verbally aggressive experiences. Aloia's work considers psychological and physiological reactions to verbal aggression, to elucidate the personal, relational and health implications of aggressive communication.

"We are so pleased to have Dr. Aloia join our department," said Robert Brady, Distinguished Professor and chair of the department. "Her research and knowledge on verbally aggressive experiences will make her a great addition to our team."

She is a member of multiple, prestigious associations including the International Communication Association, the International Association of Relationship Research and the National Communication Association.

"I'm very excited to come to the University of Arkansas," Aloia said. "I look forward to working with the prestigious communication faculty and becoming part of Fulbright College."
