The SEC College Tour, an event designed to recruit students to the 14 institutions in the Southeastern Conference, will add a fall event focused on high school counselors starting in October.

The new fall activity will provide SEC admissions representatives another opportunity to showcase their respective universities in a region outside of the conference's geographic borders. Destinations for October include Denver, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins.

"SEC universities want their students to have a global view," said Suzanne McCray, vice provost for enrollment services at the University of Arkansas. "In order to do that we need to create a learning environment that is rich in cultural experiences that students from places across the country and throughout the world can share."

The University of Arkansas is the planning institution for the fall event. Each tour stop will include casual meetings where university admissions representatives from all 14 SEC institutions will present enrollment information to local high school counselors and take part in a question and answer session.

The spring component of the SEC College Tour, in its eighth year, will take place in the Philadelphia area. Auburn University will plan the spring events that will not only include the counselor meetings, but also college fairs for high school students and their parents.
