Campus Internet Speeds and Capacity Increased to 10 Gigabits

This year, the Arkansas Research and Education Optical Network (ARE-ON) more than tripled Internet capacity on the University of Arkansas campus, from 3 gigabits per second to 10 gigabits per second. There is no change to the way users access the Internet on campus, but users benefit from several improvements.

With greater network capacity, file downloads and applications are faster, and in some buildings, 4k video streaming is now available with no buffering. The increase in capacity prepares the university for more efficient use of cloud services as more students, faculty and staff rely on anytime, anywhere availability of file shares and other online services.
