Mary Wyandt-Hiebert presented at the American College Health Association annual meeting this past May.

Mary Wyandt-Hiebert, director of STAR Central, recently presented at multiple sessions during the American College Health Association annual meeting in Orlando, Florida.

Wyandt-Hiebert discussed sexual violence on college campuses at the national conference for health professionals, along with actively co-chairing meetings for the ACHA Campus Safety and Violence Coalition and the ACHA Protecting Students from Sexual Assault Task Force.

Sessions included "Trauma-informed Care for the College Health Population," where attendees learned more about trauma-informed care and its use across college campuses. Wyandt-Hiebert's portion focused on the neurobiology of trauma with particular reference to sexual violence victimization.

During the session "Protecting Students from Sexual Assault Task Force: A Year in Review," Wyandt-Hiebert discussed current legislation regarding sexual assault on campuses, recommendations for addressing sexual assault on campuses and future efforts the task force will take.

"Campus Safety and Violence Coalition: Today's Concerns" offered attendees insight on issues of concern on college campuses and allowed them to discuss prevention and intervention strategies.

Wyandt-Hiebert was appointed in Fall 2014 as co-chair of the ACHA Campus Safety and Violence Coalition and the ACHA Protecting Students from Sexual Assault Task Force. Along with these national appointments, she is the director of STAR Central, the Office of Support, Training, Advocacy & Resources on Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence, coordinated through the Wellness and Health Promotion Department in the Pat Walker Health Center. She also advises the award-winning RESPECT student intern program.

About ACHA: Since 1920, the American College Health Association has linked college health professionals throughout the nation and globe, forming a powerful, collaborative networking base. ACHA's mission is to serve as the principal leadership organization for advancing the health of college students and campus communities through advocacy, education and research.
