Apology for Incorrect Header on Non-Emergency Email

On Wednesday, University Relations performed an email test for a new mass communications platform using a message about the Full Circle Campus Food Pantry. In that test, the office made the simple mistake of not selecting the correct email profile, and the test message appeared to come from our emergency notification channel, RazALERT@uark.edu, rather than a general account.

The reason for the test was to look at ways that the university could improve email delivery times, something that will be crucial in a real emergency situation.

The bad news is that the use of the RazALERT channel caused some unneeded alarm and annoyance on campus. But the good news is that the testing improved email delivery times by 80 percent.

The office has made corrections in its process that will prevent this from happening again, and the staff members are acutely aware of the threat posed by diluting an emergency channel with non-emergency messages.

The staff of the office regrets the mistake and any inconvenience it may have caused the campus community.
