Katy Washington Returns to University to Lead the Center for Educational Access

Katy Washington has been named the director for the Center for Educational Access in the Division of Student Affairs.

Washington received her B.S. in psychology and biology from the University of Central Arkansas in 1997 and her M.S. in counseling psychology in 2001. She attended law school at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and obtained her Juris Doctor in 2008. Currently Washington is a doctoral candidate in public policy at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Professionally, Washington has a long career working in the advancement of disability support services. She has worked at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Pulaski Technical College and Georgia College. In 2008, she became the assistant director in the Center for Educational Access at the University of Arkansans and now returns as the director of the center.

In her role as director of CEA, we know that she will exemplify the very best of the Division of Student Affairs," said Dean of Students Melissa Harwood-Rom. "Under her leadership, we know that our students will continue to receive outstanding support and service."

Washington reports to the associate dean of students for student life in the Division of Student Affairs, and is happy to be back at the University of Arkansas.

"I am so excited to return to the University of Arkansas to serve as the director for the Center for Educational Access. This department operates one of the preeminent disability services programs in the state," Washington said. "Working with the talented and dedicated staff in CEA I look forward to ensuring that we continue to improve upon current programs and services, and find new and innovative ways to be a resource for the University of Arkansas campus community."
