University of Arkansas graduate student Anna Bono presented her Honors College research from her undergraduate days last month at the annual international conference of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development in Houston.

Bono will graduate next month with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the College of Education and Health Professions. The topic of her honors thesis was "Using Pop Culture to Enhance the Literacy Achievement of One Group of Third-Grade Students." She presented at the conference with her faculty mentor, Marcia Imbeau, professor of special education.

"Anna combined her honors project study with her internship and shared her journey of how she had come to learn how to meet the demands of all learners in an elementary classroom," Imbeau said. "She was outstanding."

Bono collected data for a second research project during her teaching internship at Gene George Elementary School in Springdale. She also has a bachelor's degree in education from the U of A, graduating summa cum laude.
