Applications Available for Fall 2015 Peer Education Interns

Students can apply now for one of six Peer Educator intern positions through Substance Education & Alcohol Resources.

SEAR is offering paid internships for up to six students for the 2015-16 school year to join the Razorbacks Offering Accountability Resources (ROAR) peer education group. ROAR focuses on educating the university community about safe drinking and looking out for one another through bystander intervention.

Applicants should be a University of Arkansas student, currently enrolled in either undergraduate or graduate coursework. Interns receive $500 per semester with a fringe benefit rate of 0.1 percent.

Duties for this internship include participating in BACCHUS peer education training, peer education training meetings and regularly held ROAR peer education meetings. Peer educators will assist with planning and organizing of ROAR programming, campaigns and awareness events. The peer educators will serve as a campus resource to student regarding information on alcohol and drug use.

ROAR is advised by Debbie Morgan, substance abuse prevention coordinator in the department of Wellness & Health Promotion and Ashley McNamara, program coordinator for educational outreach and conduct investigations in the Office of Student Standards and Conduct.

Interested students should download the application online (word document) and submit it by April 17 via email or in person to Pat Walker Health Center room 275. For more information, contact Debbie Morgan at drmorgan@uark.edu.
