Honors College Hosts Top High School Students for Fellowship Weekend
Two Honors College fellowship finalists tour campus.
If by chance you see any nervous-looking students dressed for success, with Honors College nametags around their necks, please make them feel welcome! Today, Monday, the Honors College will host 143 high-achieving students from high schools across Arkansas and beyond.
These students have been selected from more than 700 applicants to interview for fellowships that pay $70,000 over four years.
"Fellowship Weekend is our premier recruiting event – we want all of these top students to choose the University of Arkansas," said Noah Pittman, assistant dean of recruitment and retention.
The students, who must score 32 or higher on the ACT just to be eligible to apply, gathered in Fayetteville yesterday to take an essay test, meet current Honors College fellows, and tour the college's beautiful new home in Ozark Hall.
Today, in addition to interviewing with Honors College faculty members, the fellowship finalists are touring Hotz Honors Hall, attending honors classes, and meeting with representatives to learn more about research and study abroad opportunities.
Up to 90 students will be selected to receive fellowships, but all of them come away winners: All fellowship finalists receive the Chancellor's Scholarship, worth $32,000 over four years.
