News Site and Email Redesigned to Add Interactive Features, Clean Look
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas news website and email are redesigned and were officially launched today, Monday, March 2, although the website was in beta testing for the last month.
The digital design and development team and editorial team of University Relations began working on the new site – University of Arkansas News – about a year ago, with the most intensive work being done in the past six to eight months.
The new website has a cleaner, more modern look and structure, with a design that allows for more pictures. It also provides more options for sharing stories via social media and offering opinions through the comment section.
The early morning email that delivers the news headlines each weekday is keeping the name, University of Arkansas Newswire, but features a number of changes, including a complete redesign. Now, Arkansans, parents, alumni and all who support the University of Arkansas are able to subscribe to the email.
The new website also has minor changes for people who regularly submit stories or events to University of Arkansas News. Links to the submission page are now at the bottom of the web page. Bookmark the page for easy return.
"We know that every new design has minor kinks to work through," said Charlie Alison, editor of the news site. "We think we have caught most of them through user testing sessions, but if an issue crops up, we hope readers will send us a note at editor@uark.edu and let us know."
