Mathematica Senior Fellow to Give Lecture on Education Accountability

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Brian Gill, a senior fellow at Mathematica Policy Research, will give a lecture titled “Re-Imagining Accountability in K-12 Education: A Behavioral Perspective” on Friday, March 6, at the University of Arkansas.
The lecture is part of the series sponsored by the Department of Education Reform. It starts at noon in Room 343 of the Graduate Education Building, and RSVP is requested for a light lunch. RSVP online by 1 p.m. March 4.
Gill is involved in numerous projects that research the effectiveness of various programs implemented in charter schools. He is director of the National Study of the Effectiveness of Charter-School Management Organizations, which is examining how effective it is to have nonprofit organizations managing networks of charter schools.
Gill is also directing a research project that is using a randomized experimental design to evaluate the effectiveness of the Equity Project Charter School, which seeks to promote student achievement by hiring expert teachers who are paid $125,000 salaries.
Gill researches a variety of topics, but his research on homework earned the History of Education Society’s award for best article. Gill has a doctorate in jurisprudence and social policy and a juris doctor from University of California at Berkeley.
