Developing Talent Series, Certificate Course Provide Tools for Mission-Critical Role in Organizations

Claretha Hughes of the College of Education and Health Professions, and Judith Tavano of the Global Campus will launch the Developing Talent Series and Certificate Course this spring.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Organization leaders can hone employee development skills and gain competency through the Developing Talent Series and Certificate Course offered by the University of Arkansas Global Campus in Rogers this spring.

The first of five courses will begin March 3. Participants can select individual courses or take all five, complete the capstone project and earn a certificate of completion from the university. Claretha Hughes, who holds a doctorate and teaches in the College of Education and Health Professions at the U of A, developed the series in partnership with Judith Tavano, director of professional development programs at the Global Campus. Hughes also earned a master’s degree in business administration.

Participants must register online separately for each course at training.uark.edu/register. Each course is $59 and runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Suite 402 at the Global Campus in Rogers, 3300 Market St. U of A Faculty, staff, students and alumni members will receive a 10 percent discount. Those seeking the certificate must also register online for the capstone project.

  • Fundamentals of Talent Development, March 3, Judith Tavano, a Society for Human Resource Management senior certified professional and a senior professional in human resources
  • The History of Talent Development and the Analysis of Organizational Needs, March 10, Matthew Gosney, who holds a Doctor of Education, and Tavano
  • Foundations of Instructional Design, March 17, Christina Worrell, senior professional in human resources
  • Winning Implementation and Evaluation, March 24, Tavano
  • Learning Technologies, March 31, Hughes
  • Capstone Project Due, April 14, Hughes, Tavano, Gosney and Worrell

The Human Resource Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management have approved each of the courses for 2.75 hours of recertification credit.
