Communication Department Offers Presentation Support Lab for Students
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Department of Communication in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences is opening a Presentation Support Lab. The lab will aid students of all majors in preparing and enhance a presentation for one or more of their classes.
The lab opened Tuesday, Feb. 3, and is located in Kimpel Hall, room 405 and will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. Team members hope to help students improve their presentation skills so that they may achieve their full potential. The team is made up of teaching assistants who instruct at least two courses of public speaking each semester.
Students may use the lab for guidance in a variety of challenges that accompany presentations, such as analyzing audiences, selecting appropriate topics, constructing outlines, preparing visual aids, improving delivery skills, overcoming speech anxiety and more. The team members are available to consult with students before presentations, analyze ‘dry runs,’ record students’ performances to use in self-assessments and work through information to make presentations more effective.
Students interested in using the lab are encouraged to schedule an appointment at present@uark.edu. Walk-ins will be accepted based on availability.
