This Week in the Visual and Performing Arts: Jan. 23 - 30
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will host a faculty recital, a symposium, lectures from guest scholars and a play. Students, faculty, staff and guests are encouraged to attend these events in the visual and performing arts.
Faculty members Tomoko Kashiwagi and Mirsolava Panayotova will perform a piano duo at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, in The Fine Arts Center’s Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
Guest scholar Amanda Johnston will give a lecture titled "An Innovative Comparative Approach to Teaching English and German Diction,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
Immediately following, also in Stella Boyle Smith, guest scholar Nancy Balach will present "The Music Resource: Research for the 21st Century," at 8:30 p.m.
Performances associated with the Dr. Eddie Wade Jones Memorial Black Music Symposium will be held throughout the day Friday, Jan. 30, and Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
The University of Arkansas Department of Theatre and the African and African American Studies Program present The Mountaintop directed by Clinnesha Sibley. The play opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in Kimpal Hall room 404 with additional performances at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and University of Arkansas faculty and staff and $5 for students with valid student ID. Due to high demand and limited seating, it is strongly recommended that patrons make reservations or purchase tickets in advance.
