New Need-Based Endowed Scholarship to Support University of Arkansas Law Students
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A $750,000 estate gift has created a new, need-based endowed scholarship at the University of Arkansas School of Law. The Marion W. and Mary Alice Hazel Endowed Scholarship will support law students with financial need by covering expenses such as tuition and books.
“This generous gift will allow the law school to build on its commitment to accessibility and great value,” said Stacy Leeds, dean of the School of Law. “We pride ourselves on recruiting and retaining outstanding students, and this scholarship will provide remarkable support for that mission.”
Marion W. Hazel was a 1941 graduate of the School of Law. Mary Alice Hazel was a graduate of Western Kentucky University.
The School of Law is recognized as the “Best Value in Legal Education” by National Jurist magazine. In its latest rankings, U.S. News and World Report ranked the law school fourth nationally for the lowest average debt load carried by graduates.
