University Libraries Provides Extended Hours and Study Breaks Through Finals
Photo Submitted

Finals are on their way and the University Libraries, along with partners from across campus, want to help you relieve stress even while you study hard.

Coloring is a great stress reliever and students can take a quick break during marathon sessions starting Monday, Dec. 8. Grab a coloring sheet and some crayons, get creative, then take a photo of your art, and tag the pic #studybreak @UARKLibraries on Instagram. Or, take time out for a selfie at our selfie station to prove how hard you are working (and send a pic to Mom!).

Be sure to take advantage of all the snacks and study breaks in Mullins Library going on through finals:

  • Monday, Dec. 8: Office of Academic Initiatives and Integrity brings study packets to help you get the best start possible on exams. Come by beginning at 9am to pick one up.
  • Monday, Dec. 8: FNL and R.O.C.K. Camp are partnering to offer a yummy trail mix bar starting at 9pm.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 9: UREC will provide coffee and snacks in Mullins at 8pm.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 10: The Honors College is bringing in hot chocolate and cookies at 2pm.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 10: Order of Omega will host a fabulous candy bar starting at 10pm.
  • Thursday, Dec. 11: Fulbright College Advising Center brings coffee and donuts at 8am.
  • Thursday, Dec. 11: The Quality Writing Center will offer additional writing tutors and extended hours for your last minute paper writing needs. Stop by the QWC in Mullins Library between 5:00 and 9:00pm for free coffee and writing assistance. Tutors are available by appointment, and a few tutors will be on hand for walk-in help. For each student tutored, the QWC will contribute goods to the Full Circle Food Pantry.
  • Sunday, Dec. 14: ASG sponsors coffee and cookies starting at 10pm.
  • Monday, Dec. 15: It’s the 1st day of exams, and University Libraries will have bagels, coffee, and juice at 9am in Mullins’ west entry.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 16: Afternoon slump break – have coffee and cookies with University Housing at 2pm.

Or, take a moment to browse through this month’s selection of multicultural books available for check-out in Mullins’ main lobby near the printers. Chosen by Tim Zou, Head of Performing Arts and Media, this month’s multicultural theme presents publications on foods, festivals, and holidays from different cultures, sometimes in different times, as they are represented in literature.

There’s a lot happening this month at the Libraries. Mullins Library extends its regular hours near the end of every semester and final exams. Mullins is even open 24 hours for part of the week before, and the week of, finals, so be sure to check the Libraries’ homepage in the upper right-hand corner for that day’s schedule.

For more information on hours and services, please check the Libraries’ calendar. Hours can also be heard by dialing 479-575-4101, but contact individual University Libraries’ departments and branch libraries for schedule variations and exceptions, or email refer@uark.edu.

Special thanks to all of our #studybreak sponsors: Associated Student Government (ASG), Fulbright College Advising Center, Friday Night Live (FNL), Honors College, Office of Academic Initiatives and Integrity, Order of Omega, R.O.C.K Camp, Quality Writing Center (QWC), University Housing, and University Recreation (UREC).
