Visting artist Joy O. Ude will speak at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in the Fine Arts Center, room 213 immediately followed by an artist reception and works on display in room 207.

Joy O. Ude is a mixed-media artist and designer. In her artwork she explores Black culture as a subset of American culture by addressing sociological issues including education and employment. As an American-born child of Nigerian immigrants, she also reflects on the concept of duality.

Ude earned her M.F.A. from the University of North Texas in 2013. Her work has been exhibited in several regional and national shows, including CraftTexas, Fantastic Fibers, and Fiberart International. She has also participated in a residency at LUX Center for the Arts at Lincoln, Nebraska, and a post-grad apprenticeship at The Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This event is free to all current University of Arkansas students. Admission for general public is free but based on seating availability. For special accommodations due to disability, please contact the Office of Student Activities at osa@uark.edu or call 479-575-5255
